Expert Report Writing: Improving your Effectiveness as a Witness

On Thursday, January 19, 2012, at 3 p.m. ET, The TASA Group, Inc., in conjunction with attorney Craig Heidemann and Nathan Duncan of Douglas, Haun & Heidemann, P.C., presented a professional development webinar for experts in every field, Expert Report Writing: Improving your Effectiveness as a Witness.

Nearly every case in which an expert witness offers an opinion requires a written report containing the expert’s opinions, methods, and other information. These reports are an important litigation tool relied upon by attorneys. Becoming an expert report writer will ensure continued work as an expert witness, better working relationships with hiring lawyers, and increased credibility as an expert. This webinar, presented by attorneys Craig Heidemann and Nathan Duncan, will focus on the fundamentals of effective report writing from an attorney’s point of view. Their presentation included a discussion of the following:

  • Goals and purposes for the report
  • Report requirements under Rule 26 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Using reports to increase your credibility
  • Defensive report writing
  • Proper writing style to effectively convey your message
