Tom received his B.S. degree in physical education from the University of Connecticut in 1966. In 1973, he earned his M.Ed. from Springfield College. In 1981, Tom received his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from the University of Connecticut. Tom taught elementary physical education for thirty-three years in Vernon, Connecticut. His credentials include high school coaching early in his career. He has been director of intramurals and recreation at a division III university. Tom was an adjunct lecturer teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Lastly, Tom is credentialed by two recognized playground entities promoting playground safety. He is a Certified Playground Safety Inspector endorsed by the National Recreation and Park Association. Also, he is certified by the National Program for Playground Safety.
