In honor of Valentine's Day, we are going to delve deeper into the specialty of cardiothoracic surgery. According to the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, "A cardiothoracic surgeon is a medical doctor who specializes in surgical procedures of the heart, lungs, esophagus, and other organs in the chest." These doctors can be focused in different areas of the chest and have additional credits to their name (i.e. internal medicine) which may complement their surgical skills.
