The UPMC Case

The UPMC case has been privy to litigation for quite some time. The sensitive material of this case, health care, is one with high levels of concern to litigators and every day people alike. This case deals with large masses of people having access to health care, so this is understandably a high stakes case.

Recently, there have been developments in the legal proceedings in this case, which are outlined in the article, More legal review ordered in UPMC case. An excerpt from the article reads, "Unless the consent decrees are extended, people with Highmark health insurance plans will no longer have in-network access to most UPMC hospitals and physician offices, including UPMC Hamot. Those with UPMC Health Plan insurance would no longer have in-network access to Saint Vincent Hospital and others with Highmark’s Allegheny Health Network."
