There is NO CHARGE for our services until an expert we refer begins working at your direction, or until you designate (formally name) the expert.
If work is performed, our bill includes the expert’s services
and his or her expenses; a one-time Administrative Fee of $175 (which
appears on the first or only invoice); and a designation fee, when
applicable (see below). However, there are NO CHARGES for the many
other services we provide, including our conversations with you
to fully understand your needs; unlimited searches; our conversations
with potential experts; referrals; resumes; help arranging your
initial telephone screening interviews with candidates*; and ongoing
personal service to assure your satisfaction.
*In most cases,
there is no charge for an initial conference. If, however,
your conversation becomes a lengthy or substantive discussion
of your case—or if you meet with the expert—time
and expenses might be billable. It’s best to clarify this
in advance.
All experts and consultants we refer are Independent
Contractors. Individually, they set their
rates with us. The fees we quote are a combination of experts’
rates plus our overhead factor, which is a flat add-on to experts’
hourly rates. Because we are
neutral and have no financial stake
in which experts we refer, the add-on is never a percentage of an
expert’s fee.
We provide details of candidates’ fees
with you when we refer them since they vary.
Most experts and consultants set hourly or daily rates. Some charge
higher or minimum rates for depositions, court testimony, and out-of-town
services. Experts may require designation fees if you formally
name them but do not ultimately engage them, and some require that
fees be deposited with us in advance. There are experts who charge
the same rate for services and
travel; others charge reduced travel rates.
We confirm all fees
and terms in a written Memorandum of Confirmation.
Experts and consultants submit their invoices
to The TASA Group, and we send them to you, our client, for payment
upon presentation (unless you notify us that another party is responsible). Usually, experts submit bills
as they render services. However, some require that you send us
a portion or all fees in advance.
We notify the expert when payment arrives, and then services commence.
Neither The TASA Group nor experts we refer work on a contingent-fee
basis, and our staff is not on commission.
