Here are answers to questions we are frequently asked. You can also

information about these and other topics.
I can probably
find an expert on my own. Why should I use The TASA Group?
We offer a unique combination of advantages,
including fast access to the experts you need; our ability to tap
into an extraordinary network of distinguished specialists in more
than 10,000 expertise disciplines; a reputation for integrity and
exceptional personal service; plus all of the other benefits from
nearly one-half century of concentrated referral experience. All
of this saves you valuable time that you can put to other use.
How does The TASA
Group find its experts?
We've spent more than 50 years building
our incomparable expert roster. As we have always done, we
recruit experts at leading universities and medical centers, corporations,
trade associations, etc. Today, we have thousands of experts in
our roster and a reputation for quality that attracts experts to
us. Many others are recommended by professional colleagues in our
network, and by our clients.
What are your
charges?
There is NO CHARGE for an expert until
he or she begins working for you. If work is performed, our
bill includes the expert’s services and his or her expenses;
a one-time Administrative Fee of $175 (which appears on the first
or only invoice); and a designation fee, when applicable. However,
there are NO CHARGES for the many other services we provide, including
our conversations with you to fully understand your needs; unlimited
searches; our conversations with potential experts; referrals; resumes;
and help arranging your initial telephone screening interviews with
candidates. For more information about Fees, Click
here.
How long does it take to get a
referral?
We can often provide complete referral
information during our first conversation with you. That
means that when you describe your situation and the type of expert
you would like, we generally are able to give you candidates’
names, background information, and rates; send their resumes; and
help arrange your initial telephone interviews with them. Other
requests may require more time. Either way, we follow up within
48 hours to assure your satisfaction. For more information about
The Referral Process, Click here.
Suppose I need an expert at the
last minute?
We can usually help you on a moment’s
notice. However, there are many good reasons to call us as
soon as you think you might need an expert. For your convenience,
our headquarters is open daily from 8:30 am to 8 pm (East Coast
time), and we’re also available by email, online, and by fax.

What if I need an out-of-town expert?
We have access to many thousands of experts
worldwide. With our proprietary TASAnet database and our
collaborative way of working, we can readily locate experts in another
state, province, or country. And if, for some reason, we don’t
currently have an expert in the location you’ve asked for,
we will do our best to find one, with no obligation on your part.
May I speak with an expert before
making up my mind?
Yes. We help arrange your initial
screening interview call so you can begin to decide if a candidate
meets your requirements and qualifications. For more information
about The Referral Process, Click

How big is The TASA Group?
More than sixty employees work at The
TASA Group headquarters to fulfill requests for experts and consultants.
Our employee longevity record is exceptional: More than one-half
of our referral staff has worked for The TASA Group more than ten
years. This means that you will benefit from unparalleled experience
and our “institutional memory” with every referral.

How do you make your money?
We are paid by our clients. Please Click
here for information about Fees.
Who are your clients?
Most of our clients are with law and
insurance firms of all sizes and in all practice areas. Others
are in business or with government agencies. We do not serve members
of the general public directly. Instead, they must put us in touch
with their lawyers so that we can explain our services and our terms.

Do you accept assignments on a
contingent fee basis?
No, we do not. We are neutral
and have no stake in the outcome or monetary value of a matter.
Fees are payable to us upon presentation, regardless of whether
or not a matter is successful. Click
here for more information about
Fees.
Do you refer plaintiff or defense
experts?
We refer both. However, we make
every effort to accept cases for only the party that approaches
us first on a particular matter. That’s one reason why we
suggest that you contact us as soon as you think you might need
an expert, consultant or arbitrator – to gain the strategic
advantage of having the person you need, right from the start.
Do you screen experts you refer?
We request biographical details, references,
and other information from all prospective experts. We also
speak with each of them about their backgrounds and experience before
we refer them for a particular matter. However,
we always stress that it’s our client’s responsibility
to screen experts carefully and determine if they are qualified
and well-suited for their needs. We are not attorneys, and
we cannot presume to know all of the factors our clients must consider.
That is why, as part of our service, we provide an opportunity for
a screening interview with candidates by telephone.
Are experts from your referral
service likely to be thought of as “hired guns”?
No. Most individuals referred by The
TASA Group do not make their living as “experts.” Most
are fully-employed professionals who also enjoy the additional challenge
of serving as legal and technical consultants. Within a given field,
we have access to so many experts with varying backgrounds and skills
that there’s no need to refer the same individuals over and
over.
