On Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. EST, The TASA Group, Inc., in conjunction with Dr. John La Puma, a board-certified specialist in internal medicine and expert in medical ethics, nutrition and weight management, presented a free, one-hour interactive webinar, Weight Loss Drugs and Dietary Supplements: Labeling, Marketing and Usage.

During this event, which was designed to benefit both plaintiff and defense attorneys, Dr. La Puma covered the following topics:

About the Expert
Dr. La Puma is a board-certified specialist in internal medicine and an expert in nutrition, marketing and weight management. He taught the first Nutrition and Cooking Course for Medical Students in the U.S., at SUNY, with Dr. Michael Roizen now of the Cleveland Clinic, in 2003. Formerly a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Chicago, Professor of Nutrition at Kendall College's School of Culinary Arts, Dr La Puma performed his residency in internal medicine at West Los Angeles Veterans Administration Medical Center and UCLA, and completed the first postgraduate fellowship in general internal medicine and clinical medical ethics in the U.S., at the University of Chicago.

Dr. La Puma has authored or co-authored over 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers, 150 other contributions to medical literature and 3 medical books, including a CME book. He is founding Editor of Alternative Medicine Alert, the leading evidence-based newsletter for clinicians on dietary supplements and integrative approaches. He has developed a dietary supplement and designed its marketing campaign, and studied the role of marketing and labeling in prescription and nonprescription medication.

Dr. La Puma is a New York Times best-selling author. His ChefMD's Big Book of Culinary Medicine: A Food Lover's Roadmap to Losing Weight, Preventing Disease and Getting Really Healthy became a Times best-seller shortly after its 2008 release. His first general audience book, with Dr Roizen, was also a Times best-seller: The RealAge Diet: Make Yourself Younger with What You Eat. His first cookbook, also with Dr. Roizen, became an Amazon #1 Cookbook: Cooking the RealAge Way: Turn Back Your Biological Clock. Dr. La Puma also developed recipes for the Times #1 best-seller, You the Owner's Manual, and Oprah! first featured one of his recipes ("Salmon and Three Peppers”) on September 20, 1999.
